From 7 to 18 years old she has studied ballet at the School of Sonia Moryanova. When she graduated from "Tositseio Arsakeio: (that is the High School she attended as a young student), she studied professionally in the "Greek Choreodrama of Rallou Manou". During her studies she had been dancing for the performances of "Greek Choreodrama".
When she graduated from the Professional School she founded the Dance Group "Folk Dance Workshop" with 4 colleagues of hers and presented, among others, "Smoked Pot", by Ch. Leontis and works by D. Savvopoulos. In 1974 she took over the teaching of all classes at the Ballet School of Rena Kampaladou.
In 1976 she opened her own School in the area of Palaio Faliro, a lifelong dream of hers, which operated until June 2019, when her daughter Ileana Balla took over!
The aim of the School was to teach all students to respect their emotions and express it effortlessly through movement.
Initially, the courses taught by the School were Ballet, Modern (Graham) and Dance Gymnastics. When she met or learned about a gifted teacher in some kind of dance, she did not hesitate to expand the classes already taught. So in 1979 the following classes were added: Flamenco, Tango Argentino, Musical, Tribal belly dance, Hatha Yoga. And then through the years Iyengar Yoga, Aikido, Pilates, Release, hip-hop, Jazz, TRX, Breakdance, Dance Therapy and Improvisation.
In 1988 she went to London and attended Ballet and Contemporary Dance at "The Place" (London Contemporary Dance School).
Teaching adults, she saw how decisively each emotion affects the body's performance. At the same time, she was fortunate enough to reach her School's adults (from 20 to 40 years old) who loved Martha Graham's system and their dedication was such that in 1987 they danced on stage!
And since then they have been dancing in every performance.
The School presented 17 performances in central theaters of Athens and offered 31 scholarships to students who stood out for both their talent and their ethos.
What she believes today is that "as long as everyone believes they can move their body, their body will respond". Because thoughts, feelings and dreams are the driving force of the body.
