Yoga, (yoga) in Sanskrit, means "union" and, according to Indian thought, yoga is the union of the individual soul (Jivatma) with the Universal Spirit (Paramatma).
Yoga is a concept so broad and vague that it is difficult and even frivolous to give it a single definition.
For us, the westerners, it is a method of physical exercise combined with conscious breathing. Through yoga we may practice self-observation which can lead to higher levels of self-awareness and awareness. With the practice of yoga, the practitioner, in addition to physical health, can acquire calmness, clarity and self-control.
